UNCLAIMED REMAINS SERVICES
The issue of unclaimed remains of veterans in Marion County is one that the Marion County Veterans Council approaches with a deep sense of duty and reverence. Acknowledging that every veteran deserves a dignified and respectful final resting place, our council takes an active role in ensuring that the unclaimed remains of veterans are identified, honored, and properly interred. We work tirelessly to ensure that these forgotten heroes receive the honor and recognition they earned through their service to our nation.
Our efforts in this regard involve close collaboration with local funeral homes, coroners’ offices, and veteran organizations to identify the unclaimed remains of veterans. Once identified, the Marion County Veterans Council organizes proper military honors and burial services, ensuring that these veterans are laid to rest with the respect and ceremony they deserve. These services are attended by council members, veterans, and community volunteers, standing in as the family these veterans might have lost or never had. In doing so, we not only provide a final tribute to these individuals but also send a powerful message to our community and nation: every veteran, regardless of their life's circumstances, is worthy of recognition and remembrance for their service and sacrifice. Through these solemn and dignified actions, the Marion County Veterans Council upholds its commitment to honor every veteran, ensuring no one who served our country is forgotten.
